This is the founding principle of Fundables. We want you to be able to setup and launch your campaign in minutes to start raising the funds you need as quickly and easily as possible.
That said, we understand, as you consider using the Fundables fundraising application to raise funds for your business or organization, you’ll have questions before getting started.
Please review our FAQ page to help get the information you may need to make the process as seamless as possible.
Is Fundables FREE?
Yes, Fundables is always free to use. We want to ensure that you are making the most money possible for your time and energy fundraising. During BETA testing there are NO fees to pay.
Once we properly launch the Fundables fundraising software to the general public, we expect to add fees (minimal) to each transaction within your campaign – approximately 2%.
We will make money ONLY if you’re making money!
The bottom line: Interac saves you money!
In the spirit of helping you to keep as much of the funds you raise, rather than see them go to credit card fees, we choose to utilize Interac.
It’s a trusted and foolproof platform. It’s also fast and easy, not to mention familiar to most users.
What is the "Platform Support" option in the Checkout?
During our BETA trial period and even beyond, when we charge the minimal transaction fee, to help you minimize the costs of using the Fundables fundraising platform, the “Platform Support” allows us to earn additional funds in a way that doesn’t take from the funds you’re making.
It’s a way to cover the operational costs of the application without passing those costs on to you, the fundraiser.
To help keep fundraising costs down, we do encourage you, as you promote your fundraiser throughout the channels you use, to urge your donors/purchasers that they include a small amount in their transaction to help offset the costs of the platform. Of course, that’s entirely optional!
Does Fundables handle fulfillment
Unless you’re offering a downloadable, a link, or an email receipt (event tickets and gift certificates, for example), your organization is responsible for fulfillment.
For instance, if you are selling a product to raise money, Fundables will handle the entire sales transaction, including the reporting that outlines exactly who purchased what, how many, and the cost. It will be up to your group to organize how the donors recieve their purchases.
How does Fundables handle taxes?
We are essentially an e-commerce platform. If your products or events are taxable, that will be identified as you set up your campaign and campaign items.
Gift certificates, no matter if you’re a business or a charity, are not charged taxes to purchase, but the purchases applied to the gift certificate will be.
Any person or entity that is a “small supplier” is permitted to remain outside the GST/HST system. They do not register for GST/HST, and they do not need to charge GST/HST on their sales. For businesses generally, a person with no more than $30,000 in annual revenues is normally a small supplier that can choose to remain unregistered. For a charity, the threshold is $50,000. If total GST-taxable revenues in any four consecutive calendar quarters total more then $50,000, the charity is not a “small supplier”.
A fund-raising event is exempt if it meets both of the following conditions:
• It is an admission to a fund-raising dinner, ball, concert, show or like fund-raising event.
• Part of the fee may reasonably be regarded as an amount that is donated to the charity, and a donation tax receipt can be issued for that portion (or could be issued if the donor were an individual).
How do we collect our funds?
As part of the Fundables platform, all payments are intially collected and held by Fundables. All of your funds raised (not including the “Platform Support”) will be sent to you by e-transfer within three (3) business days of the conclusion of your campaign.
If you are conducting an ongoing campaign (gift certificate sales, for example) we can set up a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly payment program to transfer your funds.
Meantime, you’re able to check into your campaign dashboard to check on the status of your campaign. You can download your report with the breakdown of how much your organization raised, as a group as well as the individual team members.
